When One Family Thrives, a Community Rises

This past Christmas, a teenage boy quietly pulled up to our center and began unloading boxes of in-kind donations. I stepped outside to thank him and asked what had prompted him to come by.

He smiled and said simply, “Oh, you helped my mom and her siblings when we first came from Mexico a long time ago. We’re just giving back.”

As I looked closer, I saw two women unloading an entire truckload of goods—thoughtfully packed, clearly gathered with intention. After a brief conversation, I knew I wanted to hear more. We exchanged numbers and, a few weeks later, met for coffee.

That’s when Julieta began her story.
