Impact

Cuidando Los Niños is at the forefront of addressing child and family homelessness in Albuquerque

Through early childhood education, case management, supportive housing, rapid rehousing, and parent education, we provide comprehensive care and life-changing support for over 500 individuals this year.

Our Impact

For over 35 years, Cuidando Los Niños has provided dual-generation support to families experiencing homelessness in Albuquerque. Our goal is to help families achieve permanent housing and to prepare children—who often enter our program developmentally behind—to thrive in kindergarten and beyond.

This past year, we served 506 unduplicated individuals, including 43 families in our supportive housing program and 23 families in our early childhood education center. We track outcomes using clear, measurable goals:

Child Development

We aim for 90% of children to meet physical and cognitive milestones by program completion. In the past year, 80% of children reached these benchmarks, based on standardized assessments with progress plans that follow all the children to support their success.

Social-Emotional Health

We address trauma and anxiety through therapeutic interventions and structured classroom support. Our goal is for 80% of children to meet social-emotional development milestones annually—and we are making steady progress.

Family Stability

In FY2024, 49 parents received employment support services; 68 more have been served so far in FY2025. These efforts resulted in 39 parents gaining employment within 90 days and 30 maintaining employment for at least 60 days, laying a foundation for long-term stability.

Food Security

In FY2024, we provided over 20,000 nutritious meals and snacks to children enrolled in our program. All meals are prepared on-site and served family style. 100% of preschool families received weekly food assistance.

Basic Needs

This year, we received $80,000 in in-kind donations, helping families access essential items such as clothing, hygiene supplies, food, and household goods.
