Advocacy
Our Advocacy Mission: To elevate voices with lived experience of homelessness and housing instability.
We help our parents develop their voices to advocate for themselves and for other families experiencing homelessness in our community.
The Cuidando Los Niños Advocacy department is responsible for planning and facilitating community-based projects to fulfill the mission of breaking the cycle of homelessness. Our team participates in relationship building with mission aligned organizations, local government systems, and private businesses and providers to ensure that the mission and families of Cuidando Los Niños cannot be ignored.
Internally we work with our families by providing leadership development opportunities through our “Parents As Advocates” Group. Through the PAAG, our parents learn about Trauma, Time and Money Management, are offered professional writing workshops, and a supportive environment with like-minded parents. The Parent Advocates will participate in the Bernalillo County Early Childhood Coalition to provide voices with lived experience to inform community projects. Parent Advocates will also join the Cuidando Los Niños leadership team each year at the Roundhouse to elevate voices of other families who have or are currently struggling with housing instability.
